I have a pet peeve with people that refuse to control or watch their kids during parties. My sister had a christmas party. I took my dog with me because I would have had no way home to let her out. (no car. Plus was there for eight hours). It was a family and friends gathering/christmas/birthday party. For the most part everything was going ok. later in the night one of the two year old kids there started to maul on my dog. She was sitting with me, and the little girl came over and started petting her. Which is ok. Then she got up in her face, and wrapped her arms around her. When I tried to stop her, and told her no, my dog took off running through the dining room to get away from her. The kid chased after her. My sister and her friends were standing in the dining room too busy talking and playing with their nintendo ds's to pay attention to what was going on with their kids. mother of said kid was standing right next to her. When I asked them to grab the kid so she wasn't getting bit, my sister bitched me out in front of everyone and told me I needed to control my dog so she wasn't biting anyone. that i needed to get up off my ass and take care of it myself since it was my dog. Needless to say we had words, and she was told there was no reason to treat me like crap in front of everyone just because I asked her to intervene. After all, she was standing right there. her response was, well, she's only two years old, and likes dogs. Kids mom never said a word during the whole thing. In fact her dad, ended up watching her the rest of the night. He was much nicer about it when I asked him to watch her around the dog. She's a cute little kid and was well behaved most of the night. I just wish her parents were watching her better. Because I didn't want to see her get hurt. In case anyone was wondering, I made sure the dog was with me most of the night, and she was under control.

And just so this is not too OT, here is a picture I took of sadie some time ago. Plus a couple of doggy portraits I have recently finished through ebay.

Also, she doesn't seem to like her crate lately. She has plenty of blankets to lay on. Yet every morning I come in there, and the thing is trashed, food and water bowles are knocked over, blankets kicked to one one corner, etc. This morning she managed to escape after I had though I had locked it good. She has to be crated at night because she has had accidents in the house before. Anyone else have dogs that have suddenly decided they no longer like their crates? She's only in there for a few hours at night. can't give her a dog bed in there. She destroys them.

How do I tell if my dogs are play-fighting or if one of them genuinely doesn't enjoy the presence of the other?

Shiro frequently chases Bambi around the house, and though I know Bambi definitely enjoys it (he wags his tail and constantly runs past Shiro to tease him), I cannot tell if Shiro does. During the process, he never wags his tail but pants -or 'smiles'- sometimes. He always growls and bites, but there have been no casualties so far. It, honestly, all looks like play to me. Shiro could definitely hurt this little chihuahua if he truly wanted to.

THE THING IS: On regular occasion, Shiro will growl and move away when Bambi goes near, so I know he doesn't like this new pup. Why would he play with a puppy he doesn't like? This has had me confused for a while and I'm crossing my fingers that I'm not wrong on the play-fighting thing.

For I have been a meen bunny momma.
There were combings AND a session in the StinkyBox!
There is woe and sulkings.

A while back, Pepper started coming up on the bed for pettins before I went to sleep. Maybe one out of three nights. She will come and sit next to my pillow, conveniently within reach. So she gets pets and face-rubbins and a little bunny-massage, and when my arm gets tired I stop, she shakes a bit and then usually wanders off.

Then it got to maybe every other night. THEN she picked up a new habit - apparently the pettins and massage make he so relaxed and comfy that the PERFECT thing to do right afterwards is to sit on the bed next to my head and eat cecals. This while I snicker quietly because apparently I am really 5 years old. Only a bunny-person would think this was a good thing.

A few days ago she was MOST insistent on pettins, and even shoved her head under my hand repeatedly for more. Sure enough, about 5AM I was awakened by snurgly sneezes from under the bed. Apparently it's "Momma - I feel icky. Make it better".

So there was a StinkyBox session (a nebulizer treatment with Amakacin in a big rubbermaid tub for her chronic pasteurella). That night, surprisingly, she still came up on the bed for pettins. I think the bridge-of-nose massage helps when she is sick. But because I was so mean as to put her in the StinkyBox, she still had to show me - so when it came time for her little bedtime snack, she turned around and gave be the Bunny Butt. While sitting 4 inches from my head and chewing on cecals. Sigh. Bunnies am weird.

But tonight, there were combings AND the StinkyBox. I fear that I shall have to suffer woe and loneliness. At least until I produce sufficient raisins.

Our 6 month old puppy, Belle, somehow contrived to get gum stuck in the fur between her paw pads and the fur of her chest. If worst comes to worst I can cut it out of the hair on her chest, but not the fur between her paw pads, and she's been licking at her paws and trying to chew it out, so I want to do something about it before she chews or licks her paws raw.

My friend has something called Goo-gone that she said I could use if I use it and then give her a bath, which I certainly can do, but I was wondering if there was anything better for getting the gum out from between her toes.

Thanks in advance!

Aleah was saved in the 11th hour. Now she needs help getting to Susan at Angel’s Gate rescue in Delhi, NY. I’m a little concerned with the Sunday route since I have only ever run it once and it’s No Man’s Land, so any help with cross posting and forwarding would be much appreciated!

Thank you all so much!!!

These three lovely dogs were stolen from our local no-kill shelter run by Stand Up for Animals over the holiday weekend. They were found missing the day after Christmas with no sign of who took them. There is a reward if anyone has information. Please help these dogs avoid becoming bait dogs somewhere. Call 305-743-3779 or 305-393-0294 if you see them.

This is Shyla - she is a senior boxer girl and is deaf.

This is Kaiser - he is an adult with a scarred nose.

This is Elmo - he is very playful and has buggy eyes.
